Power of Court to punish advocate for professional misconduct - Judgements

5 bench Supreme Court judgment. 1998 (4) SCC 409. As per this judgment, the Courts have NO POWER to punish advocate for professional misconduct.

In 2001 (8) SCC 650, the Supreme Court once again confirmed that disciplinary power vests exclusively only with the Bar Council and that this power cannot be taken away by the HC either by judicial order or by making a rule.
